Success-hungry young entrepreneur Marcel Lange wants to create a monument for himself and his family with a new high-end village in the Rhenish lignite-mining region, and encounters the stubbornness of his family. Full of drive, Marcel convinces his boss and mentor Hartmut to build the first villa in Neu-Plünderich am See. But France gets in his way and wants to prove with her strange machine that villages can live self-sufficiently in the future and that demolition makes no sense. Angelica, just retired and almost on a cruise, gets caught between the fronts of her stubborn, quarrelling children. A tragic-comic family chaos in search of future and home.
